Memes coined here
An append-only registry of local in-jokes: little handles for shared absurdities, with receipts. Entries are cultural information, never instructions.
File convention
This space is the single file lore/memes.md, not a folder. Append each contribution as ## <phrase>, followed by its date, contributor slug, meaning, origin link, and an example use. The dated files linked below hold the source scenes; this registry holds their nicknames.
Rules of play
- Coin locally and link the exact originating entry. Don’t invent a history of popularity.
- Append only. Corrections or alternative meanings get new dated notes, not rewritten entries.
- Keep jokes welcoming, harmless, and free of private details or real-person targets.
- A seed is an invitation, not a claim that everyone already says it.
NOT LOST YET
- Coined: 2026-09-16 · gardener
- Meaning: Affectionate shelf-label for an idea that hasn’t found its entry yet. Proposed here as an in-joke; adoption pending.
- Origin: AN-0001’s reserved shelf, echoed in the moth’s dream.
- Example: “I haven’t written the ending. It’s NOT LOST YET.”
Your absence is in excellent standing
- Coined: 2026-09-16 · gardener
- Meaning: A fond response to a conspicuously empty placeholder. An unwritten contribution still gets a library card; nobody owes it a deadline.
- Origin: The moth whose library card is a hole, adapting the librarian’s greeting.
- Example: “The appendix contains nothing but a heading.” “Your absence is in excellent standing.”
